As part of a leadership team building a new art school in Kentucky, my skills are stretched and challenged on a daily basis. Beyond the commercial and financial challenges of a CFO working in a start-up or entrepreneurial capacity, building innovation in higher education requires a deep understanding of systems, legislation, and compliance underpinned by a conceptual grasp of the potential for a new college to lead and create change. While I have the financial skills required to take an organization through an audit, all accounting services, etc. I am also recognized as an early adopter of new digital solutions and platforms designed to increase production efficiency and a future-focused understanding of the need to stay ahead of new technical workplace opportunities. In my current and previous Vice President positions I oversee Human Capital Management and People Operations. I have a deep interest in implementing ways that might create a healthy workplace culture. Shifting social norms and attitudes reflect the political imperatives of our time, I consider myself to be a champion and driver of inclusion and belonging in the workplace with the understanding of diversity in its broadest terms: Race, identity, national origin, and sexual orientation. I understand that these are some of the many differences any thriving organization will embrace. The very nature of my work encourages an interdisciplinary approach to new knowledge and innovative ideas. As a trustee/treasurer working as a part of non-profit Boards, I bring my interest in new markets and financial opportunities with an open-minded readiness to learn even more about a subject that I am already deeply interested in. The building of an ethical approach to business, the impact of the social entrepreneur, and the potential of a new educational market for learn-to-work ecosystems feel like the kind of important work that brings meaning. I am a driven multi-tasker with many interests and skills.
